The Music
The Music. Well that is the main reason we are all here and are all fans of this great band! Well this page is going to be a central location for various links, sites, downloads and all around place's to find The Samples music. Enjoy!
This site is one of the best resources you can find for live Samples music to download listening (among 100's of other bands). They have an archive (hard to believe I know with the name!) of just over 40 Samples shows. All of which you can download in various formats and bit rates. As well about half the shows that are archived there you can stream and listen to right on your computer. It's a great thing for anyone who can listen to music at work.
In addition to the 4 dozen or so Samples shows archive.org has on their site. They also have about half a dozen solo Sean Kelly shows that area really cool to give a listen to. Samples tunes, solo tunes and some cool talk and chatting.
So check the site out! Download some shows to your mp3 player, burn some on CD, or just stream away and enjoy the tunes! Here is a direct link to the Samples shows. http://www.archive.org/details/TheSamples
Another site (which does not appear to be actively maintained) has live recordings from two older Samples shows that are downloadable - song by song - in .mp3 format. 18 years ago, Sean Kelly (with a higher pitched, younger sounding voice) introduced many of the same songs that rock their current shows. Check out this young live recording of The Samples performance at Wetlands Preserve, NYC, 1989.
Ten years later, the Samples were still performing favorites at a live show recorded at the House of Blues, L.A., 1999. This show highlights an emphasis on percussion in the band's live performances, and compared with the 1989 show from the same site, Sean is much more "relaxed" on stage. (Pass it forward!) Check out the reggae jammin' with "Seany Boy."
This is going to be a weekly (as you can tell by the name:)) download of a favorite Samples tune. Something old, something rare, or just something you're digging at the time:) And a short description of what the track is and why you're into it:)
Well I'll try my best to keep this updated weekly, but as I'm sure some have noticed I've not been able to do so of late. Not that I've forgotten about it. Just between work and moving, I've had almost no free time. But I'll do my best:)
Ok so yes, I know this is now a wee bit more then a week late lol. Life's been busy!
OK so here is this weeks download of the week. I went with a song that was recorded a little later then my last one. Well almost 20 years later to be exact:) It's a recording of Wild River (Colorado) from a show in 2005. I've always been a big fan of this song. The chorus has always struck a cord with me. Only the writer of a song knows for sure how and why they've written a song, and what was the driving factor behind and motivation behind the song. And in the case of this song, I would have to guess that it is about Sean's being from Colorado, hence the lyrics "Oh how I love her, I smile above her" and the song title. But that is the great thing about music, one song or lyric can mean one thing to one person, and something else totally different to another. And the chorus of "Oh how I love her, I smile above her" I find very cool:) So I hope y'all enjoy!

Just wanted to post this and pass it along in case anyone missed this.
"I created a new music player that holds up to 100 songs! I believe that I have added over 60 of my tunes so far and more are being uploaded. Feel free to check them out, have a listen and feel free to download any that are downloadable! I have a version of my song “Nature” on this player performed by The Dave Matthews Band and some versions of my songs that are in there original form from the demos to these songs dating back to 1982. I recorded and performed these songs over the years for your enjoyment. I never desired to leave them in toxic hands and money has never been my objective. Just making it 20 years in a sea of learning disabilities and constant artistic battles, is like winning a Grammy! Never forget your dreams! Guard them jealously! And don’t let anyone get in your way! And pass on their magic to the next kid that needs a positive example! Cheers, Sean" http://bulletin.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=bulletin.read&messageID=2916007547&MyToken=da35335e-ef6c-4697-8ff0-ab00e5f45c76 |

Sorry again for being late on the download of the week. I was planning on putting up a newer song from a couple of years ago. But I have a special one to put up tomorrow. It should be up later tomorrow afternoon. But I'll say this. It's in honor of something:)

Hey everyone!
Sorry that I'm a tad late putting up a new D/L of the week. I've just been out of commision all week, with the worst case of the flu ever! But I'm back on track now, so I promise I'll get that up asap tonight, or tomorrow! Nick |
