I had the pleasure of interviewing Jeep about the latest Mr Anonymous 2 CD which is due out on April 19th. Jeep talks about his days in The Samples, his experiences recording both Mr Anonymous 2 CDs in Jamaica and the reggae vibe he brought to The Samples. Have a look:

Hello all. I am looking for any Samples videos featuring the original lineup. I have the "10 Wheels" doc but there is a lot more on Youtube and elsewhere on the internet that I've seen lately. What I want are hard copies of these vidoes (concert footage, interviews, etc..). I want to use them for a documentary I'm trying to make. Besides that, I want to clean them up and watch them on a TV set. Online, they are small and usually bad quality. I have already contacted Sean and got what he has but I know there is a lot more out there.
Please help.

The one thing my Samples collection is missing is a copy of Code of the Road. It was a video the band put out in the 1990s with behind the scene shots, live music and loads of other assorted silliness. What I do have is about 1000 assorted songs, many of which most people have never ever heard before (even the most die hard Samples fans). The spoils of managing the band for a few months!

I've never heard "Code of the Road" I'm sorry to say. Wish I could be of more help. And I'm certain there are MANY from the Samples I've never heard, they're a rather prolific bunch.
I ended up finding another version of "The Boxer" but, oddly enough, it wasn't the version I wanted. The one I can't find was really well done and the second, to be honest, was crap. I'd like to hear the version you have, hopefully it's the one I'm looking for. If you'd like, you could e-mail me the song at nerikk@yahoo.com. I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks for your help, U.S.C....
Best, Erik

It was a great show and the recording came out very good. I finally got around to tracking it etc. Hope you enjoy it. It is a zipped file so you'll need Winzip once you download it.

Hello all! First of all sorry for not being around the past few months. With work being crazy, and summer, and traveling etc. I just haven't had much time, although I feel bad about it! I need to get back to helping with the site and spreading the music:)
But on a vry exciting note, we here in Minnesota have two Samples shows this week after a more then year gap. And I for one could not be more excited!!!!! So if anyone here is from, or is going to be in the Minneapolis area for the shows, write a message or drop a line etc. It would be great to meet some of y'all!
CANT WAIT FOR THE SHOWS!
Nick

Hey there Nick, Not sure what I did wrong, but thought I posted a new gig at this site, and then went back and did not find the info... the band will play in Manchester CT on Wednesday, November 14th. The website is Thehungrytiger.com, people can buy online tix... great venue, small, intimate, good peeps... last time they played there they did an unplugged show, was AMAZING, so should be a great show to catch, especially mid-week, not too many crazy people! Hope to see everyone there, if you could somehow post this info, I would appreciate it... I told the band I would spread the word. Sorry about being so computer lame :) Thanks, Alli

I wasn't really expecting an earth-shattering experience Saturday night at Randall's Island in NYC, but I sure as hell did have one. I saw Arcade Fire. And I must say off the bat that this was truly one of the greatest live shows I have ever seen in my 27 years of seeing live bands. If you saw Springsteen in 85-86 or before, U2 in the early/mid 80s (pre-Joshua Tree), or post-OK Computer Radiohead, you can relate somewhat to the awe-inspiring , jaw-dropping magic and majesty I experienced. Very few bands can bring me to weep at their beauty, and if you told me a year ago Arcade Fire would, I'd call you a silly goose. By Sunday morning, I was a changed person, I had seen the light. I knew they were great, I heard they were amazing live, but it wasn't until I saw it myself that I fully understood. Four years ago, they were an obscure, embryonic band from Montreal, comprised of two brothers from Texas, a few stray Canadians, and a French-Canadian woman from Haiti who was married to one of the brothers, the one who sang lead, named Win. Since then, they have wowed and performed onstage with David Bowie and David Byrne, opened for Bowie and U2, and had one of their early epics ('Wake Up')serve as the song that U2 took the stage to on their last tour. Pretty amazing. Live, they own the crowd from the second they hit the stage, with a somewhat subdued song, 'Black Mirror'. From there, the show builds to an epic close, with the crowd whipped into an ecstatic frenzy. I now have faith that perhaps another band may someday emerge that can match this experience that I thought was gone foreve

I was feeling ambitious and started the list of cover songs - and got a little fancy here: Click on the link to download the cover of Like a Hurricane. ( I figure it can become part of the list.)
The band ended the last show of the 2006 tour with this cover - it was awesome!
(This particular download is from archives.com - June 20, 2004 - Wakarusa Festival Lawrence, KS).

what a hidden gem from "Transmissions.." saw Sean play this a few nights ago at Tupelo Music Hall. A very beautiful and emotional song about the plane disaster over Locherbee(sp.?) Scotland. Even Jared returned to the stage with a tear in his eye. WOW!!!!
